ID: DE18

Created for Dogz 4, the African Rat Catcher is a large dog with a puffy chest and big feet. It poses well and is a good parent. It is a gentle and lovable pet.

Rachael had some of her creations posted on her mom's site, ABC Babyz. Chris found the Dogz 4 version of this breed there, downloaded it and donated a copy to the Archives. Minibyte did the conversions to Dogz 3 and Dogz 5.!

Anglo Dachshund

ID: DE27

The Anglo Dachshund is responsible for several of the grey hairs on Minibyte's head!! Rachael was one of the early hexers who tried changing the shape of breeds. Minibyte got excited about being able to add the Anglo to her collection. Alas! It turned out that it was one of the zip files missing required bitmaps for the breed! And Rachaell didn't answer E-mails.... So, Minibyte spent an entire evening staring at the picture and trying to recreate two required bitmaps. They aren't perfect, but the resulting petz are VERY close to the appearance of the dog in the picture posted at Animal Trax.

Things got worse. When Minibyte converted the file, the "Dachshund" puppies coming out of the Adoption center changed into Labradors as they grew up! She kept going through Rachael's coding and it looked as if Rachael had done everything correctly. Minibyte was doing the conversions very carefully and had no idea why the pet changed back into the Labrador shape as it grew up. After another long frustrating evening with this pup, she decided to save the file and go to bed. That's when she suddenly noticed that the two letters designating the breed were missing in the name secton of the file! She added them and her little puppies kept their "Dachshund" shape as they grew up.

Breathing a sigh of relief, Minibyte did the conversions to Petz 3 and Petz 5. She sure hopes that you have fun with them!

Belgian Sheepdog v1

Belgian Sheepdog v1
Belgian Sheepdog.dog
ID: 8BD3

Rachael created the Belgian Sheepdog breed for Dogz 3 and had it hosted on Terri's Petz 3 Page. The original release had several errors which caused serious problems. Conversions of the file would crash the Petz 4 and Petz 5 games when one tried to bring a Belgian Sheepdog out of the Adoption Center. Minibyte corrected the errors and eliminated the crashing problem.

These dogz will develop huge manes like lions as they grow older. They will be difficult to pick up and put into the Carrying case. Just have patience. It CAN be done!

Rachael created Version 2 of her Belgian Sheepdog when Petz 4 was released and posted it for download on her Animal Trax website. Unfortunately, Rachael gave Version 2 a different ID number. As a result, petz from Version 1 and Version 2 can work with either breed file, BUT they cannot breed with each other! If you try to breed a Version 1 pet with a Version 2 pet you will get an error message, a game crash or a stuck pregnancy.

The Dogz 3 breed file was downloaded by Chris and donated to the Archive. Minibyte corrected errors and then converted the file to Dogz 4 and Dogz 5.

Rachael created the Belgian Sheepdog breed for Dogz 3 and had it hosted on Terri's Petz 3 Page. She upgraded the file to Version 2 when Petz 4 was released and posted it for download on her Animal Trax web site. Version 2 Belgian Sheepdogs look like the Version 1 petz except that they do not develop manes. They are available in three color variations: reddish brown, light brown and steel blue. Versions 1 and 2 have the same breed name and the same file name. Unfortunately, however, Rachael gave Version 2 a different ID number. As a result, petz from Version 1 and Version 2 can work with either breed file, BUT they cannot breed with each other! If you try to breed a Version 1 pet with a Version 2 pet you will get an error message, a game crash or a stuck pregnancy.

Minibyte downloaded the Dogz 4 file from Animal Trax, added the Adoption Center picture and then converted the file to Dogz 3 and Dogz 5.

Brussels Griffon

This is a reconstructed breed file. The originally downloaded file was truncated with a large portion of it cut off and missing. There was, however, enough data left to salvage the Adoption Center picture and the coding for the body of the dog. There were three errors in the file. One of the eyes was the wrong size, the tip of the tail was disconnected and "floated" above the pet, and the eye variations were not in proper sequence. Those sections of the file were corrected and the petz coming out of the Adoption Center will look exactly like the picture Rachael inserted into the file.

The original file was donated to the Archive by Carolyn Horn. After reconstructing it and correcting errors, Minibyte created versions for Petz 3, Petz 4 and Petz 5.

Chow Chow v1

Chow Chow v1

ID: 7BA3

Rachael created the Chow Chow breed for Dogz 3 and had it hosted on Terri's Petz 3 Page. It is based upon the Sheepdog, trotting and "flooping" like Sheepdogs do. There are no fur color variations.

Rachael created Version 2 of her Chow Chow when Petz 4 was released and posted it for download on her Animal Trax web site. Version 2 is based upon the Great Dane and gets its fur color and texture from two fur files. While the two versions have the same breed and file names, they are very different. If you put Version 1 petz into your game while the Version 2 file is in the Dogz folder, your petz will become mute and unable to breed. If you put Version 2 petz into your game while the Version 1 file is in place, your petz will lose their fur color, become mute, and be unable to breed.

The Dogz 3 breed file was downloaded by Chris and donated to the Archive. Minibyte converted the file to Dogz 4 and Dogz 5.

Rachael created Version 2 of her Chow Chow when Petz 4 was released and posted it for download on her Animal Trax web site. Be sure to put the two bmp files into the Dogz\Resource folder with the breed file so that your dogs will have the proper fur color and texture.

Brown Fruble

Rachael created the Brown Fruble for Dogz 4. Based upon the Dachshund, the Fruble tends to be a bit hyper and yippy. It has a fuzzy coat and a poodle like puff on the tip of its tail. The Brown Furble gets its color and texture from a furfile named frubl.bmp. Make sure that you put the frubl.bmp into the Dogs folder along with the breed file. Look at the picture. Frubles have really tiny babies!
