I am Pierre, This is my lovely wife Marie and our children, Jacques and Jean Paul. We are lab rats. Uh, sorry, Marie. She just hates it when I refer to us as lab rats. But that is what we are. Whenever Minibyte makes some serious changes to a breed file, such as converting a Petz 2 file to Petz 3, she adopts petz, raises them and tests to see if they can breed without problems. I am a Petz 2 French Bulldog, Version 1. Minibyte converted the breed file and imported me into Petz 3. Then she adopted the beautiful Petz 3 Marie to be my mate. As you can see, we didn't have any problem having children. Both of my boys are perfect! Minibyte usually puts her lab rats up for adoption, but she fell in love with us and kept us in her petz family.

The picture above is a photograph taken on our recent trip to Paris. Our friends, Beau and Merci had invited us for a visit. They are Version 2 French Bulldogs and tend to be a little stuck up about it, but we love them anyway. We hadn't seen them for years and also wanted the boys to see the country where our breed originated. In the picture we had just arrived and were taking the boys on a tour. You can see the Eiffel Tower in the distance. It is absolutely gorgeous at night when all the lights are turned on. We are supposed to meet Beau and Merci here, at this intersection, tomorrow at noon.

I'm supposed to tell you about Sunshine Kennels. Well, the owner, Celes, was one of the early hexers. She started by hexing Petz 2 breeds. At first she didn't have a site, but had her breeds posted at Petz Gallery. Later, she set up Sunshine Kennels and became quite active in the Petz Community. She hexed many beautiful breeds for Petz 3!

However, when Petz 4 came out, Celes was quite upset. She refused to get the game and asked people not to convert her breeds to Petz 4. That caused some consternation in the Petz Community because newer gamers who had Petz 4 were being denied her breeds or any petz adoptions from them. For several years Minibyte refused to convert Celes' breeds to Petz 4 and warned others not to convert them. Although she didn't agree with Celes' position, she did this out of respect for Celes as a Community member.

You will, however, find the Sunshine Kennels breeds converted to Petz 4 in this Archive and you deserve an explanation as to why Minibyte changed her mind about converting the breeds. Celes is no longer active in the Petz Community and the reasons she gave for requesting no conversions to Petz 4 are no longer valid. First, she claimed that she didn't want it done because she didn't own Petz 4 and couldn't do the conversions herself. She could easily have gotten a fellow hexer to do the conversions for her... Second, she was upset by the poor quality of Petz 4, by the fact that Mindscape ignored the Beta testers and by what she deemed the rude behavior of Mindscape staff. As a result, she said that she could not support Petz 4 or Mindscape and wished to encourage people to buy Petz 3. Well, both Petz 3 and 4 were discontinued quite some time ago. It is difficult to find Petz 4 for purchase, let alone Petz 3. Besides, Petz 3 doesn't even work well on the new operating systems. It's also silly to say you aren't supporting Mindscape because Mindscape no longer exists.

Finally, Celes argued that she didn't allow people to convert her breeds or post them on their web sites because her breeds are what drew visitors to Sunshine Kennels.This is a valid argument if the site is frequently updated and the owner is an active Community member. Celes, however, pretty much stopped updating her site when Petz 4 was released. When Petz 5 was released she gave Minibyte permission to convert her breeds to Petz 5 so that she could put them on her site. Minibyte had nearly all of the conversions done by January of 2003 and sent the files to Celes. Celes put only two of them on her site, the Basset Hound and the Husky. She didn't do that until two months later, she gave credit for the conversions to the person testing the files instead of to Minibyte and the download links didn't work. Celes never made corrections when requested, although she promised to do so. In fact, she hasn't made any updates since March of 2003 and does not respond to emails. Her site is no longer functional. It is doubtful that anyone ever visits Sunshine Kennels as the site has become quite useless.

So, my friends, that is why Minibyte has included Sunshine Kennels here and why she has proceeded to convert Celes' breeds to Petz 4.
