Terri's Petz Logo

This archive was made possible by the generousity of two members of the Petz Community. First, special thanks to Chris who generously donated her large collection of files from Terri's sites. Next, a big hug for the ever busy Carolyn Horn who took the time to help Minibyte attribute the files. Most of Terri's pages were no longer online by the time Minibyte got access to the internet. This archive could not have been put together for you without the help of these two lovely ladies!

Frisky
Are you ready for a trip down Memory Lane? I'm Frisky, adopted by Minibyte way back in May of 2001, One of my relatives was Mascot of Terri's Petz 3 Page and, since hosting talent runs in our family, I was selected to host this Archive! Terri was one of the early hexers and a very talented one at that! She not only hexed many wonderful fantasy breeds and clothing items, but she also worked closely with Birgit of the Petz Gallery in creating some of the first gamer created playscenes. Terri even ventured into the PF Magic world of Oddballz and created some Oddballz for the game! She was also a very generous person, hosting the breed files of many other creative Petz 3 gamers. Her site was very popular in Petz 3 days and many of the creations posted on her site are still admired today! Minibyte has converted them here so that now all gamers can enjoy delightful petz from the early days of hexing.
Oh! Before I forget! Those images up at the top of the page are from Terri's home page. She designed the site logo and the two pets were cyberpetz that she adopted. We didn't think she would mind us putting them up again for everyone to see.

Today many of the breeds you are about to see seem very simple and not especially unique. Before turning up your nose at them, remember a few things. These were created by the earliest hexers. They did not have a Petz Workshop or a LNS Pro or a Resource Hacker. They had only real hex editors such as Hex Workshop. Carolyn Horn did not have a site back then and her tutorials were still a thing of the future. Most hexers were struggling to learn on their own and the fact that they could change colors and textures of petz totally amazed gamers. Most of these early hexers still had not learned how to make stand alone breed files. Instead, they sent their files to Birgit of Petz Gallery. Birgit converted many of those overwriting files to stand alone files and, for a time, even tried to maintain a system of assigning ID numbers to hexers to use in their creations.

Birgit and Carolyn worked together to explore and to learn how all those strange numbers and text in the files worked and both helped the people trying to learn how to create things for the Petz 3 game. Soon color charts and tutorials began to appear on web sites. The number of sites increased rapidly and soon we had a huge and thriving Petz Community. Without the work of all those early gamers, the Petz game world would not have become the fantastic creative environment that it is today!
